According to Chinese tradition, the emperor organized a great race among all the animals on Earth to determine who would take the 12 positions in the lunar calendar. While chasing the dragon, which took fifth place, the horse was startled by a snake coiled around its hoof. As the horse reared in fright, the snake uncoiled and slithered across the finish line, securing sixth place. It is believed that those born under the Chinese Lunar Snake sign in 2025, 2013, 2001, 1989, and every 12th year before them are wise, intelligent, independent, and charming individuals.

 

The 1oz silver proof coin features a coiled snake resting beneath leaves. Its intricate frosted design stands out against an impeccably polished surface. The design includes the Chinese character for “Snake,” the inscription “SNAKE 2025,” and The Perth Mint’s “P” mintmark.

 

Each coin’s obverse features Dan Thorne’s portrait of King Charles III, along with the coin’s weight, purity, and monetary denomination.
