That is why, since 2007, The Perth Mint decided to complement its famous kangaroo and kookaburra coin collections with a new series featuring this beloved marsupial in its eucalyptus tree habitat in annual designs.
The 2022 anniversary coin features a 24-carat gilded depiction of this iconic animal resting on a eucalyptus tree branch. The design is complemented by the inscription “KOALA 15TH ANNIVERSARY,” The Perth Mint’s “P” mintmark, the coin’s weight, purity, and year of issue. The obverse of the coin features Jody Clark’s portrait of Queen Elizabeth II above the depiction of the first koala design and the inscription “2007 2022.”
