The 2004 Summer Olympic Games, officially called the XXVIII Olympic Games, were held in Athens, the capital of Greece, from August 13 to August 29, 2004. Initially planned to host 10,500 athletes, the event welcomed 11,099 participants and 5,500 official team members from 202 countries. A total of 301 medal sets were awarded, and competitions were held in 28 sports disciplines.
The reverse features stylized cyclists, the emblem of the National Olympic Committee of Lithuania on the left, the inscription "ATĖNAI" in a semicircle above, and "2004" at the bottom. The obverse shows the coat of arms of the Republic of Lithuania, with "LIETUVA" inscribed in a semicircle above, "50 LITŲ" at the bottom, and "2003" on the left.
