The 2000 Summer Olympic Games (or the XXVII Olympic Games) were held in Sydney from September 15 to October 1, 2000. It was the second time the Olympic Games were organized in the Southern Hemisphere and the second time in Australia, following the 1956 Summer Olympics.
At these Games, two world records were set in team track cycling races and one in individual women's track cycling.
The mascots for the Games were three animals: Olly (a kookaburra), Syd (a platypus), and Millie (a short-beaked echidna). These mascots symbolized air, land, and water.
The reverse features a discus thrower with the emblem of the National Olympic Committee of Lithuania above and the inscription "2000 SIDNEY" in a semicircle below. The obverse displays the coat of arms of the Republic of Lithuania within a shield, with the inscription "LIETUVA 50 LITŲ" in a semicircle at the bottom.
