The kookaburra, famous for its boisterous song that resembles a laugh, can be heard across Australia, from the outback to the countryside. And while a hungry bird may be perfectly capable of snatching food from a barbecue or picnic table, in the wild the kookaburra enjoys a diverse menu of insects, worms, frogs, fish, mice and even snakes.
The coin features a high relief image of a flying kookaburra with a snake in its claws. The striking appearance of the coin is further enhanced by the kookaburra and the outer ring of the coin, carefully gilded with 24 carat gold. The reverse also features the words "KOOKABURRA", the P125 mintmark for the Perth Mint's 125th anniversary, as well as the coin's weight, purity and 2024.
The obverse of the coin features the effigy of King Charles III Dan Thorne and the denomination.
Accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity, the coin is housed in a presentation case with a clear cover.
