The Declaration of Independence Preamble Platinum Coin Series (2018-2020) produced a one-ounce 99.95% platinum coin in each year of the series. Since the first issue in 1997, every American Eagle Platinum Proof coin has shared a common obverse with a design of the Statue of Liberty. As the Platinum Proof program enters its third decade, the United States Mint introduces a new series of platinum coins with new obverse designs and a new overall reverse design.

 

in 2018 The obverse of the preamble platinum coin of the Declaration of Independence depicts "Life", the personification of Liberty, teaching a child to sow seeds in the fields. The sword she carries symbolizes her determination to defend life. Plowed ground represents the strategy and work required to sustain life. The tree and the stream represent nature, suggesting that we need to take good care of the environment that sustains life. The obverse designs for the three-year series were created by Artistic Infusion Program Designer Justin Kunz.

 

A common design on the reverse of this series is an eagle in flight with an olive branch in its talons. It was created by Artistic Infusion program designer Patricia Lucas-Morris.

 

Each platinum coin is encapsulated and packaged in a black velvet satin-lined case, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
