The Chinese Silver Panda (Chinese: 熊猫银司; pinyin: xióngmāo yínbì) is a series of silver coins issued by the People's Republic of China. The panda design changes every year and is minted in different sizes and denominations ranging from 0.5 troy ounce to 1 kilogram. Since 2016 Pandas have moved to metric sizes. The 1 troy ounce coin has been reduced to 30 grams and the 5 troy ounce coin to 150 grams. There is also a Gold Panda series released, which has the same design as the Silver Panda coins.
The center of the obverse depicts the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests in the Temple of Heaven complex in Beijing. The hall was built between 1406 and 1420. At the top, the Chinese characters say "中华人民和和国", ie. i.e. People's Republic of China, with year of issue below. The reverse features portraits of the giant panda that change each year (except for 2001 and 2002, which have the same design).
