This exquisitely crafted silver Proof coin is a tribute to the 2024 Year of the Dragon. In the twelve-year cycle of the ancient Chinese zodiac, the mystical dragon ranks fifth. Those born under the influence of the dragon are known as strong, natural leaders with great traits of courage, perseverance, enthusiasm and intelligence.
Obverse: His Majesty King Charles III facing left. The portrait is surrounded by the inscriptions "CHARLES III", "NIUE 2024", "ONE DOLLAR" and "1 OZ 999 SILVER", and the artist's initials "JC" flank the image. The portrait of the King was created by British sculptor Jody Clark, a renowned medalist artist best known for the fifth and final portrait of her late Queen Elizabeth II to be minted.
The reverse depicts a dragon rising from a bank of billowing clouds as its coiled tail weaves in and out of billowing mist. The sign below the enchanting creature's head is inscribed with a Chinese dragon symbol.
