No matter how modest it is, chamomile is a celebrity among medicinal herbs. A ministering spirit dedicated to healing various ailments. The ancient Greeks and Romans already knew what to do with daisies; The Anglo-Saxons considered it one of the nine holy herbs, in Lithuania since ancient times chamomile has been indispensable in rituals, celebrations and natural medicine.
Both Roman and German chamomile are used to make tea. The bed pillows are filled with chamomile herbs to induce pleasant dreams. It is also called the "happy plant"; after all, muscles are believed to bring luck in love.
The obverse depicts a young woman as an allegory of life force. Chamomile adorns her hair. She looks determined, with a phoenix perched on her shoulder, a mythical bird that has always been a symbol of renewal and rebirth. The silhouette of a spear can be seen behind the outline of her face.
The other side shows daisies in full bloom. They resemble real ones down to the last detail. Behind them is a band with stylized daisies. This ornament is printed in full color on Proof coins.
"Chamomile" is the fifth coin in the Austrian mint's "Language of Flowers" series, dedicated to the immense importance of plants in cultural history.
