The collection first explores the story of Robin Hood, from whom the legend began, and now another person is his enterprising and inventive companion Marian. The maid Marian, sometimes described as tall but always from people, accompanied Robin Hood and his friends on an adventure through the woods of Sherwood. This coin will be followed by another fairy-tale-inspired coin depicting Little John, a loyal companion to Robin Hood.
The maid Marian was depicted as Jody Clark, standing guard over the greenery of Sherwood Forest and trolling through the trees, with a bow and shaking arrows on her back, ready for action. Forged from 999 silver, each one-ounce coin is made to Royal Mint precious metal standards.
The obverse depicts Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and a £ 2 denomination.
The reverse depicts a maid, Marian, secretly looking from behind the trees in the woods of Sherwood, with a bow and arrows on her back.
