The 2017 Australian Cattle Horse Silver Coin is dedicated to a breed of horse bred specifically for Australian conditions. Engraved in 9,999 sterling silver, it is a prime example of the workmanship, exceptional quality and attention to detail of the Perth Mint. The first coins in the Australian Shepherd series were issued in 2013. limited edition and was a huge success. 5th 2017 the edition will complement a few but popular Australian coins. The offspring of the Australian Shepherd are horses brought from South Africa. Australia needed strong, enduring horses to create new territories. Therefore, the shepherd was especially valued for his courage, strength, and gentle character. She was often called Waller. In 1971, horses of this breed were officially named "Australian Cattle Horse". The 2017 coin depicts a horse in a new image, with the edge of the coin and the Perth Mint mark added.
The obverse features a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Jan Rank-Broadley. The words "ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 1 DOLLAR" (Elizabeth II, Australia, 1 Australian dollar) appear in a semicircle on the rim.
The reverse depicts an Australian shepherd horse against the backdrop of a steppe landscape and a pile of cereals. At the top of the semicircle is the inscription “AUSTRALIAN STOCK HORSE” (Australian Cattle Horse) and at the bottom is the inscription “2017 1 oz 9999 SILVER” (2017, 1 ounce, assay 0.9999, silver).
