Тhe Bank of Estonia (Eesti Pank) has issued a collector's silver coin dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of the head of the Bank of Estonia (Eesti Pank) and statesman Juri Jaakson.
Jüri Jaakson (1870-1942) was one of the most important statesmen in the history of Estonia. He was appointed head of Eesti Pank in 1926 and did a lot for the economic development of the country. Jaakson was a key figure in the design and management of a central bank and a currency system that met international standards, he led the monetary and banking reform that gave Eesti Pank the exclusive right to issue currency. It was Jüri Jaakson who issued the Estonian kroon and became one of the founders of the Bank for International Settlements, which was an important step for the Estonian state. The prominent banker also held a number of other government posts in Estonia, was an economic adviser to the state, and then a member of the State Council.
The silver collector's coin, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Jaakson, was designed by designers Anna Ruomet, Risto Tali and Wright Siska.
On the obverse of the coin, the profile of the hero of the day is minted, on which the denomination of the coin “15 €” is placed on the left. To the right of the profile there are two vertical lines indicating the years of Jüri Jaakson's life "1870-1942".
The reverse of the coin is decorated with the coat of arms of Estonia, on the sides of which, on the right and on the left, two numbers “20” are minted, together denoting the year 2020. At the bottom of the coin is the inscription "EESTI VABARIIK" (OFFICIAL NAME of the Republic of Estonia).
