On December 4, the presentation of a silver coin dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Jaan Tõnisson took place at the Eesti Pank Museum. The collectible coin has a denomination of 15 euros and can be purchased for 40 euros.
Jaan Tõnisson was one of the most important Estonian statesmen who entered the history of Estonia as a politician, journalist and lawyer. Tõnisson formed the first Estonian political party and was also the first high-ranking politician to demand full independence for Estonia. Tõnisson played a significant role during the period of the Republic of Estonia. He served several times as head of state, and also worked in Estonia as Speaker of the Riigikogu and as Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Tõnisson's 150th Anniversary Silver coin was designed by the world famous Polish medalist and coiner Sebastian Mikołajczak. The coins were issued by the Lithuanian Mint with a circulation of 5,000 copies.
